Some days are tough back home. We get tired. We miss our kids. We hear news about the evil in the world and it can all be too much.
I want you to remember who you are. You are the mom who raised a warrior. Your children felt the call to stand up, take an oath to defend and protect this nation. You helped them develop their character, learn to persevere, and overcome challenges. You taught them to be brave. It all started with you.
So on the days when you may feel overwhelmed, remember you need to braver than your kids. You always have been. Who did they call when monsters needed to be chased away in the dark ? Who did they come to when they needed a pep talk or encouragement? You have always been there cheering them on, whether in the spelling bee or the football field. Sometimes we need to reminded how strong we really are. And that is what I am doing now.
In the words of Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh , “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” And yes my dear sisters you are. Remember how much courage it took to let them go. And even if you don’t feel brave when a scary news headline pops up, you are braver than you think. And just like that World War II mom in the picture, we are not softies. And neither are our kids.
Be brave and be strong-it’s just what we do as moms, every day. And if you are not feeling very brave right now hang on -we can be strong for each other.
